Exuvius was proud to donate silent auction prizes for Project by Project's October 1, 2010 Plate by Plate Tasting Benefit at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City. Proceeds benefited PbP's 2010 Partner, Hamilton Madison House, a non-profit settlement house in Manhattan's Chinatown area dedicated to improving the quality of life in its community.
There are certain stigmas with items that are or are not made in the USA, and we'd like to take a minute to address these. First and foremost, let us say that we love this country, and we give our full support to maintaining a strong domestic economy and way of life. With that said, we'd like to explore the topic of "Not made in the USA."
We often get asked where the name "Exuvius" comes from. Well, like our friends at Bonobos, our name is derived from nature. The word "Exuvia" is a biological term that describes the exoskeleton that certain animals leave behind after molting. Since the term carries the feminine ending, we made it man-up into Exuvius. This way no one confuses it for the cosmetic face your girlfriend sheds in the sink before she goes to sleep, or the "it puts the lotion on the skin" suit.
If Exuvius ever endorsed a sport, it would probably be "dodge-drink"- the sport where you try to keep your shirt dry after an unamused girl throws a Cosmo towards your face. OK, that, like golf, probably isn't a real sport. More of a gentleman's game. But our next pick would be Extreme Ironing.
If you haven't been keeping up with ESPN 8, "The Ocho", take a moment to familiarize yourself with the current champs. They've ironed whilst underwater, mid-flight, and everything in between. So here's a toast to...
A loose one is just fine if you are looking for something easy, but you'll feel a lot better if you find a tighter fit. I'm talking about the right shirt, of course. It's pretty easy to walk into any department store and grab a small, medium or large shirt, but if your body type is more Michael Phelps than Babe Ruth you'll most likely end up swimming in it.
